Trump's legal team argued against his gag order in his upcoming election interference trial. AdvertisementA panel of three judges on Monday appeared highly skeptical of arguments from Donald Trump's legal team seeking to revoke a gag order that bars him from attacking potential witnesses in his election interference criminal case. Depending on "the context," Lauro argued, Trump would be permitted to pressure possible witnesses not to cooperate with prosecutors. The gag order in the election interference case is separate from a gag order in another ongoing civil trial against Trump in New York. He found that Trump violated it earlier in November, though an appeals court on Thursday temporarily lifted the order.

The sepia-toned stories he peppers into speeches may not be helping. When Biden traveled to Israel last month, he spoke about his 1973 meeting with then Prime Minister Golda Meir . Following the Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade last year, he stressed his work in 1987 to keep conservative Judge Robert Bork off the nation’s high court. Pressed about climate change during a news conference in Vietnam, he pointed to his longstanding commitment to the issue, including his work on it with Sen. Dick Lugar (R., Ind.)

Wagner left Facebook parent Meta last year, and her work in trust and safety feels like it was from a prior era. One of her first investments was in a startup called Cove, which was founded by former Meta trust and safety staffers. "One thing I would recommend is transparency at a time where third-party access and understanding to what is going on at scale on social platforms is what is needed." Post is an example of the kinds of companies that trust and safety startups are focused on. Fishman said customers are starting to see trust and safety tools as almost an extension of their cybersecurity budgets.

CNN —Whether it was due to a less crowded debate stage or the experienced bench of moderators, the third Republican presidential debate held in Miami on Wednesday night was easily the smoothest debate yet. Usually, his moments of brilliance are –— as Senator Tim Scott would probably understand — sandwich-boarded by acts of self-flagellation. He was flat-out great in justifying our support of Ukraine, a debate Christie can win against anyone. As the resident expert of ‘letting little things get to me,’ I understand Haley’s Mr. Hyde. I wrote after the last debate that Haley makes poor decisions when something (or someone) gets under her skin.

Tate Reeves speaks on Covid-19 testing in the Rose Garden of the White House in Washington, DC on September 28, 2020. Tate Reeves, a Republican, faces a surprisingly competitive race Tuesday as his Democratic challenger Brandon Presley champions expanding Medicaid, a position that has broad support among voters from both parties in the deeply conservative state. Presley was pressing Reeves hard heading into Tuesday night with the race having shifted from likely to lean Republican, according to the Cook Political Report. Presley focused his campaign on outreach to Black voters, the backbone of the Democratic Party in Mississippi. Here's who's goingMajor names in the technology and political world will be there. They range from Tesla CEO Elon Musk, whose private jet landed in the U.K. late Tuesday, to U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris. What the summit seeks to addressThe main objective of the U.K. AI summit is to find some level of international coordination when it comes to agreeing some principles on the ethical and responsible development of AI models. The summit is squarely focused on so-called "frontier AI" models — in other words, the advanced large language models, or LLMs, like those developed by companies such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Cohere. Loss of control risks refer to a situation in which the AI that humans create could be turned against them.

Those investments include enabling teams to schedule additional support as needed, enhancing pharmacist and technician recruitment and hiring and strengthening pharmacy technician training, according to the spokesperson. The pharmacist typically begins the shift by completing several paperwork tasks, which take about five to 10 minutes. The pharmacist and a pharmacy technician then juggle administering shots with several other tasks. The technician typically handles the first part of that task, which involves processing new prescription orders from doctors. One CVS pharmacy technician said they typically come to their store location at 7:50 a.m., 10 minutes before their eight-hour shift starts.

Photo: mandel ngan/Agence France-Presse/Getty ImagesThe Justice Department has finally found the man who stole thousands of private federal tax records and leaked them to the media. But the potential deterrent effect is going to be muted by the plea deal negotiated with Internal Revenue Service contractor Charles Littlejohn. In a hearing last week in Washington federal court, Mr. Littlejohn admitted to stealing tax returns for President Trump and thousands of wealthy Americans, before leaking them to two separate media outlets. He gave Mr. Trump’s information to the New York Times , even as the President was fighting demands for his tax returns by Democrats in Congress. The leak of wealthy taxpayer information to ProPublica coincided with a progressive campaign to impose a new tax on assets.

Mandel Ngan | Afp | Getty ImagesTop economists and central bankers appear to be in agreement on one thing: interest rates will stay higher for longer, clouding the outlook for global markets. Despite the pause, Fed officials have signaled that rates may have to remain higher for longer than markets had initially expected if inflation is to sustainably return to the central bank's 2% target. The European Central Bank last month issued a 10th consecutive interest rate hike to take its main deposit facility to a record 4% despite signs of a weakening euro zone economy. "We may have more shocks that may drive inflation up, and that's why of course we have to remain very cautious about inflation developments."

The announcement put the spotlight on the kingdom's nascent nuclear energy efforts — Saudi Arabia has a small nuclear reactor, a research unit set up with the help of Argentina, that it has not yet put into operation. The Saudi energy minister did not comment on whether his country would also join the IAEA's Additional Protocol, which requires more thorough oversight including snap inspections. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said in a recent wide-ranging interview with Fox News that if Iran developed nuclear weapons, Saudi Arabia would too. U.S. assistance with a nuclear energy program is one of Saudi Arabia's key demands — but not everyone is happy about that. The multilateral Obama-era deal had allowed the lifting of economic sanctions on Iran in exchange for curbs to its nuclear program.

In June, the European Parliament cleared a major step in passing the EU AI Act, which would represent the EU's package of AI regulations. Tech companies that have for years criticized the EU for overly aggressive regulations are now asking, "Why is it taking you so long?" Donald Trump has been indicted as part of the Department of Justice's investigation into the events leading up to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. The riot was the culmination of efforts by Trump's supporters to block the certification of Biden's election. The Justice Department, in a team led by Special Counsel Jack Smith, brought the charges. Trump announced last month that Smith's team had served him a target letter indicating he may be indicted in the investigation. Trump and six co-conspirators also attempted to rope then-Vice President Mike Pence in their scheme and use the Justice Department to keep Trump in power, the indictment alleges.
